Due to various circumstances, not every parent is able to give their children a birthday party. The 'Children's parties' project is aimed at children ages 5 through 12 for whom a children's party is not guaranteed. Aartsen Kids Foundation has carefully put together fun and complete packages.
Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas) is a children´s festival, celebrated in The Netherlands on December 5th. Children put their shoes near the chimney and if they are lucky, Sinterklaas will pay a visit and surprise them with presents in their shoe. Aartsen Kids Foundation gives households with children but limited resources the opportunity to celebrate this Dutch tradition.
When children enter the first year of secondary school, they are expected to purchase various school supplies. This is an expensive undertaking for their parents in many cases. AKF and Happy Hippo's joint project ‘Busy Bee’ provides those children with school supplies.
‘Zomerkampen’ (Dutch for Summer camps) is a foundation in Breda that organises an annual summer camp for children aged 6-16. AKF makes participation to ‘Zomerkampen’ possible for many children whose parents cannot afford it themselves. Furthermore, AKF makes a healthy contribution by supplying fruit and vegetables.
‘Cool Treats’ (‘Stoere Traktaties’ in Dutch) is Aartsen Kids Foundation’s first school project, which focuses on playfully raising awareness amongst children about the importance a healthy diet and lifestyle.
